Hi, please allow me to introduce myself.
I'm, Rhonda R. Parton, Founder and CEO of GHULP [God Hears Us Let's Pray] Ministries.
Although in truth, Almighty God is the Founder and I am but the hands and feet He uses in this, His Ministries; for the intents and purposes necessary I have relented and have taken the title "founder".
I was born and raised in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, in Sevier County, TN.
As of this writing, I am age 45, and reside with my parents and 2 youngest sons, in my parents home, just South of Atlanta, GA.
Someone once asked me what religion I am, and I've pondered exactly which way to answer it. So I'll do the longer version. I was raised by my grandparents, who were charter founding members of Maples Branch Baptist Church in Sevierville, TN. My grandfather was an ordained deacon in the same church. In my younger years I remember them being part of the Southern Baptist Convention, and whether or not the church still is, I truly do not know. What I do know is that they do NOT go along with some of the "latest trends" to come out of said convention. If I have to place a denomination "label" on myself, it will be Independent Baptist. What religion am I? I'm a Christian, born again by the grace of God, through Jesus Christ. It matters not the name over the door, God isn't looking for Baptists or Methodists or Catholics or Pentecostals..........God's looking for those who will accept His only Son, Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. All of Christ, from His birth to the virgin, to His death, burial and resurrection, to His ascension, to His soon coming again. God searches the heart, not the church sign. The book of James tells us that pure religion (and undefiled before God and the Father) [religion that is pleasing to God] is this: "...To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." [James 1:27 KJV]
I work full time in the GHULP Ministries, as well as being a FT Mom to a very active 16 year old, and a special needs 20 year old; my oldest, now 26, lives in Tennessee, he is the Dad of a beautiful baby girl who was born July 31, 2006; he has had very little contact with his other child, who will be 7 in November [2007]. It is my prayer that he and his children's Mother will get it right from here on out, please keep them in prayer.
I have been on staff at One Heart Community Church in Stockbridge, GA, since November 2003 [Nursery] and I also hold a PT position at Ms. Wings Restaurant in Morrow, GA. Additionally, I am very active in a local writers group [Georgia Peach Writers] and am working on my first book.
I accepted Christ as my Saviour on December 29, 1974. I've not always been faithful to Him, but praise God, He's always been faithful to me.
In late winter 1987, through a series of literal dreams, God called me to leave TN and go GA to help those "worse off" than I, at that time. In late April, we made the move. I've often said that I spent 13 years being "trained in the field", as much of what I encounter in the lives of those I minister to and/or pray for; are things I have gone through personally. In late August 2000, God said it was time, and God Hears Us Let's Pray Ministries began with a single webpage and a great burden for the needs of my many online friends. Today, that page has expanded to over 10 linked websites, 3 active and 2 smaller mostly inactive mailing lists at this time, and association with literally hundreds of Christians online.
On February 1, 2001, we began a private room on AOL called GHULP Prayer Circle and we saw many lives change drastically, and many miracles. The 'physical' Prayer Circle no longer meets because so few were AOL members and even fewer attended the nightly times of fellowship, sharing of the Word and prayer, but the spirit of those meetings still exists and thrives. Today we're more often known as GHULP Ministries, but I never want anyone to forget what those 5 letters represent because they are so very true. God Hears Us Let's Pray..............GHULP!!!!!!!!!
However, like our heavenly Father, we are looking for a few good men and women to help staff the various areas of the Ministries that have no staff.
February 13, 2007 we had our initial Board of Directors meeting and with the Board established [with the exception of a permanent secretary], we are ready to move forward into the manifestation of God's will for this His work, in which we are only the 'gloves' in which He is always welcomed to place His hands.
